The best time to follow up is right after someone shows interest. Automation does that for every person, every time, without anyone watching a report.
Three triggers worth setting up
- Clicked a link: send more detail about what they clicked on.
- Opened but did not click: a shorter email with one clear call to action.
- Did not open: a fresh subject line a few days later.
Rules that keep it safe
- Each person gets a given follow-up once.
- Anyone who has unsubscribed or bounced is skipped.
- Marketing emails need recorded consent; acknowledgements people expect are treated separately.
- Per-address limits apply so a person is never flooded.
Keep the content useful
A follow-up should answer what the click suggested: pricing for a pricing link, details for a product link. One idea, one button.
Measure what happened
Check how many people received the follow-up, how many clicked, and whether any asked to unsubscribe. If unsubscribes rise, the timing or content is off.
